Ebony Bones: from the UK to BK

Like a lot of acts these days, thanks to the powers of DIY, Ebony Bones is a self-taught musician, picking and mixing from different genres on her laptop using Pro Tools.

And, thanks to the powers of the Internet, like other acts, she drew fans to sold-out shows without even a record to her name (about that name: nee Ebony Thomas; Bonee is a play on her childhood nickname, Boney).

Busy touring the festival circuit this past year, on February 13, the London artist comes to Brooklyn for a show at Southpaw.

Known for her Carnivalesque rock shows, with a wild wardrobe, energetic supporting band, and this one’s sure to be a party.

“I’m totally punk and DIY, yet I really like the whole glam rock thing,” she has said of her live shows. “I design all the costumes for the band, and I like glamour, not in the Girls Aloud way, but in a George Clinton or David Bowie way, where you take it to an extreme, and express yourself in clothes.”

As far as that album goes, the debut came out last year in the UK, and is slated for release in the US later this year. And, thanks to the Internet, you won’t be denied it until then.

Southpaw is located at 125 Fifth Ave. The show is at 9 p.m., with MNDR Jessica 6. Tickets are $10. For more information, call 718-230-0236.

In the meantime, dance along and stay warm:
