Connect Four champion coming
Tonight's the big night game enthusiasts: the Connect Four championship at the Bell House.
For the past three weeks, eager contestants have been dualing it out over their black and red chips (with week-by-week commentary provided by Brokelyn for those who missed it).
Tonight, they will declare a champion on a monster-sized Connect Four board. Silly? Yes. But still fun.
The Universal Record Database will be on hand as well to document the activities, as participants try to break various world records (fastest game ever, anyone?).
Even if you're not involved in the finals, everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy the battle (and drink specials: well drinks and select pints are only $4).
Starting at 7 p.m. $3 to play, free to watch. The Bell House is located at 149 7th St.

Have you got what it takes to Connect Four?
The Bell House gets in on the board game fun with "The World's Biggest Connect Four Championship."
The first round kicks off tomorrow night in the front lounge of the Gowanus bar, for four (of course) consecutive weeks of play. The finalists will compete November 24 on a gigantic, custom-made Coneect Four board to find out who the champion is.
The winner gets a cash prize plus bar tabs, with gift certificates, board games, and all kinds of fun for the runners-up.
Want to give it a shot? Email to register. It costs $3 to play, and is free to watch. Check in is at 6 p.m., with play beginning at 7 p.m. This should be interesting.

Join the Kubb
Image: Team SauconyThe boys behind the Boardgame Olympics at Union Hall are giving it more to Brooklyn this month.
On August 8, Metro Metro hosts a Kubb Tournament at Prospect Park.
Unless you're of Nordic descent, you've most likely never heard of the Viking invention, a lawn game that combines elements of horseshoes, bowling, chess and blocks of wood.
If you're up for the challenge, email them with the name of your team, the team players (only 2-6 people), and their email addresses. They'll confirm your spot, and then you can pay the $20 registration fee via Paypal.
If you're more of a spectator, stop by the Nethermead (a rolling meadow near the center of Prospect Park) and watch this Saturday. Costumes are encouraged.

You sank my battleship!
The Board Game Olympics return to Union Hall July 27. Try your luck at Battleship, Connect Four, and Jenga, and, if you make it to the final round, Operation (one would think after a night of board games and booze, a steady hand will be hard to come by).
Last month's filled up, so make sure to sign up in advance here.
And stay tuned for more events to come, including a Kubb tournament next month in Prospect Park.
Because, as they say, playing is better than working.
