Brooklyn Bowl: It's official

Brooklyn's newest bowling alley set to open this Tuesday, July 7. From an email:

Brooklyn Bowl, the highly anticipated 16-lane bowling alley, 600-capacity performance venue with food by Blue Ribbon in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood, is pleased to announce it will be open for business in a soft launch capacity beginning this Tuesday, July 7, at 6:00 p.m.

Operating hours will be scaled back during the soft launch: Sunday, Tuesday - Thursday, 6:00 pm - 2:00 am, and Friday and Saturdays 6:00pm - 4:00am. During this time Brooklyn Bowl will not be open on Mondays, and are serving only to a 21+ crowd. A small snack menu will be served from July 10 through the 20th. On the 21st, an expanded "preview" menu will be presented, with the full menu by Blue Ribbon debuting on August 4th. Live music performances, advance lane reservations, and extended hours (including child-friendly weekend days) will begin in late summer. Calexico to (finally) open

Mark your calendars for June 23. The long-awaited Calexico restaurant in Carroll Gardens, brought to you by the people who run the food carts of the same name in Soho, open their taqueria on Tuesday. From Grub Street:

When the doors finally open, they’ll serve the items you know and love as well as crack-sauce–laden torta and salad versions, plus new dishes such as shrimp and grits and daily specials such as ribs and tamales (the base menu is still coming together). When the beer-and-wine license comes in, there’ll be micheladas too, but during the BYOB phase, expect Mexican sodas and daily aguas frescas. [Owner Dave] Vendley says the look of the place will be unique “but still your modest taqueria,” with a blown-up picture from their hometown of Calexico, California, as the centerpiece, and hand-painted Mexican folk art on the walls.

Calexico Carne Asada will be open from 11 a.m. till 11 p.m. at 22 Union St., where burger favorite Schnack used to be. For more information, call 718-488-8226.

Beauty Bar in Brooklyn

No more going to Manhattan for your happy hours and manicures: Beauty Bar is coming to Brooklyn.

Eater reports that the bar/beauty parlor chain will be opening up a new location in Bushwick, with the grand opening next weekend at 921 Broadway.
