This week in 24/Seven
Each week we'll preview what you can expect in our 24/Seven print edition, out Thursday for you southern Brooklynites and Friday for the downtown neighborhoods.
Highlights include:
Variety: You have two chances to see Harvest Moon's Luna Park-inspired variety show: at Monkey Town on June 19 and Galapagos Art Space on June 26. Both nights will feature aerialists, showgirls, circus acts, music, and, of course, burlesque.
Parade: There will be more half-naked fun at the Mermaid Parade, the annual sea celebration in Coney Island, which returns to Surf Avenue with an even longer route this June 20.
Music: There's music every day in Brooklyn, but on June 21, it will be everwhere -- on the streets, in stores, and coming from parks, through the Make Music NY festival. Find out exactly where here.
Columns: In the kitchen, Mangiare Bene shares tricolor pasta and cheese salad perfect for summer barbecues, while the Kitchen Klutz has much to share in her ill-fated attempt at making hummus. Also, Pumps & Pleats has some great finds at the Mini Mini Market in Williamsburg.
Print: Remember zines? Maybe you made one when you were a teenager. Despite the popularity of things like the Internet, the fan publications still persist, and on June 26 and 27, you can flip through ones made right in New York City at the Brooklyn Lyceum's Zine Fest 09.
For these stories and more, pick up a copy in your nabe or check back here later this week!
