Pumps & Pleats: Industry Boutique offers fab fall fashions
Story and photos by Michèle De Meglio
It’s almost time to trade in those summer sandals for soft sweaters.
Industry, a women’s apparel boutique in Bay Ridge, is preparing for fall by stocking its shop with chic looks.
Upon walking into the bright and airy store, shoppers are greeted with the best that fall fashion has to offer.
Betsey Johnson has a key spot with several trench coats for $159. In the designer’s typical eclectic style, the coats are crafted in classic shapes and cinch at the waist with traditional trench belts but the garments are embellished with cute and funky fixings.
One trench comes in the timeless double-breasted shape with buttons running up the front. But this piece is decked out in an allover black and white checked print. That will definitely make you stand out in a crowd!
Offering a whimsical feel, a black Betsey jacket boasts a puffed collar held in place with giant black buttons shaped like hearts. The garment even has a black and white polka dot lining. The girliest girls would love this!
Industry is full of colorful clothes, jazzy jewelry, sweet scarves, bright bikinis and cute clutches.
The shop also stocks a range of party outfits able to please both trendy and classically chic styles.
For a cutting-edge of-the-moment look, consider a $125 gray maxi dress adorned with silver zippers randomly placed from the waist down. The slinky dress offers a modestly avant-garde feel and could pass for an Alexander McQueen piece.
Looking for a subtly chic look? Try pairing a strapless sheath with a sweetheart neckline in black satin with a short swing jacket covered in black and white swirls. Toss on some oversized shades and you could pass for a modern-day Audrey Hepburn.
After all, “I’m crazy about Tiffany’s.”
Industry is located at 8216 Fifth Avenue. For hours, call 718-759-9411 or e-mail TheIndustryBoutique@yahoo.com.
