Mermaids in Brooklyn
Last week, the big premiere in Brooklyn was "No Impact Man."
Tomorrow, more fantastical, fishier stuff comes to the borough, as Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO previews "Mermaids of New York," a documentary film currently in production, created by The Lady Aye (aka Ilise Carter) and Mica Scalin. The film is scheduled for completion early next year.
The night will feature performances by Lavalier, Shelly "The Singing Siren" Watson, Legs Malone, The Lady Aye, and more, as well as a mermaid picture booth.
Tickets are $15 (or $25 VIP reserved seats, $150 Producer's Circle) and can be purchased in advance here. The event acts as a benefit to help the filmmakers raise finishing funds for the project.
At 8 p.m. Galapagos is located at 16 Main Street.
