Go ask Alice: Brits hit the BK scene

It’s a British invasion when the UK collective Sian Alice Group come to New York this month.

Touring in support of their sophomore album, “Troubled, Shaken Etc.,” out on local label Social Registry, the group, which draws comparisons to Portishead, Brian Eno and PJ Harvey, plays Union Hall in Park Slope September 13. You can also catch them the following night at Mercury Lounge in Manhattan.

Sayeth Pitchfork: “Sian Alice Group chart transformations from psychedelic rock, pastoral folk, and piano-lounge balladry into analog-synthtronica, free-jazz breakdowns, pounding Afro-tech grooves, and avant-classical composition. The beauty of Sian Alice Group is that the band is capable of creating highly effective music even when they stray far from traditional torch-song territory.”

Sounds likes a perfect way to start your week.

Joining them on the Brooklyn bill are Bear in Heaven and Hospitality.

Tickets are $10. Show starts at 9 p.m.Union Hall is located at 702 Union Street. For more information, call 718-638-4400.
