Girls! Girls! Girls!

By Meredith Deliso

Once you do the math, it’s only $1 a dance.

The Brooklyn Follies brings the over-the-top spectacle that you could expect from something that’s an homage to the Ziegfeld Follies on Broadway of yesteryear, but without the Broadway prices.

On Nov. 14, Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO hosts the fast-paced dance show, with your $15 admission getting 15 varied acts, including a trapeze artist,
burlesque performer and contortionist, as well as a Turkish harem belly dancing, a flapper dance, an Isadora Duncan-inspired number, and a Fosse-style chair dance.

This wouldn’t be an ode to the Ziegfeld Follies without big numbers with all the girls, and the show doesn’t disappoint. Full-cast ensembles include the opening number, set to “La Vie En Rose,” and the big finale, where the dancers are dressed as skyscrapers, performing to the rock stomp “Brooklyn” by Buckcherry.

“Each dance is its own spectacle, has its own unique world,” said producer Nicole Holst. “It’s a lot of dance for $15.”

Brooklyn Follies at Galapagos Art Space [16 Main St. at Water Street in DUMBO, (718) 222-8500], Nov. 14 at 7:30 pm. Tickets $15. For info, visit www.galapagosartspace.com.
