Pretty, Vacant

Nathan Kensinger is a trespasser.

From the abandoned mansions of Admiral's Row to the interiors of the Domino Sugar factory, the photographer has been there with his camera, documenting the oftentimes beautiful debris in a vanishing city.

Tonight, he shares his findings in a slideshow entitlted "Pretty, Vacant: A Slideshow of Abandoned New York," at Pete's Candy Store in Williamsburg as part of Open City Dialogue, its bi-monthly lecture series.

A filmmaker, photographer, film festival programmer and location scout, Kensinger's most recent documentary was "Covered Tracks," an experimental documentary about the Freedom Tunnel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. His most recent photo exhibit was Abandoned Brooklyn, at Union Docs in Williamsburg.

To see more of his work, check out his myspace and flickr pages. And of course, head to Pete's tonight for the 7:30 p.m. lecture. Located at 709 Lorimer St.
