Get inspired at the Bell House

By Tiffany Yannetta

This month, the Bell House in Gowanus will transform its two-room music venue into a new creative space with Metropol.Mode.

The two-day event, presented by Brooklyn creative design firm Implica from August 23–24, aims to highlight the diversity of local artists, as well as showcase street art, fashion and performances that are often exclusive to urban environments.

Floating walls will be suspended throughout the space to display pieces from various different artists, such as illustrator and tattooist Adam Suerte, and art groups such as Endless Love Crew and Urban Folk Art Collective.

The festival will feature performances from local DJs and musicians on the Bell House stage and on the floor that is normally reserved for the crowd.

In addition, there will be a fashion show presented by Wrought Style that will feature various contemporary street wear designers.

The headlining DJs of the event are DJ Maggie Lauten (Himanshu of Das Racist) and DJ Ilirjana (from Apache Beat). Other artists include Abe Lincoln Jr., Matt Siren, and Chelsea Franks. A special performance by the 25-piece “street brass” Hungry March Band will also take place on the 24th.

The event begins on August 23 at 7:30 p.m. The opening night reception will feature free specialty cocktails from 8–9 p.m. The Bell House is located at 149 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues. Tickets per night are $10, $15 for a two-day pass.
