Music and Williamsburg kind of go hand-in-hand by this point, but it’s always nice to get a reminder of just how much creativity comes out of the neighborhood.
With that, on February 21, Brooklyn Bowl kicks off Local X Local, a monthly event presented by Brooklyn Brewery & Brooklyn Bowl which celebrates Brooklyn’s local art and music community.
This first edition of Local X Local features The Phenomenal Handclap Band, a collective of underground New York City musicians.
Formed as a creative outlet by NYC club DJs Daniel Collás and Sean Marquand, the two recruited fellow musician and artist friends from the indie rock and underground soul scenes, including Patrick Wood, Luke Riverside, Laura Marin, Bing Ji Ling, Pier Pappalardo and Joan Tick. The resulting sound is equal parts anthemic, dancefloor-oriented and orchestral, borrowing elements from progressive rock, disco, electro, and psychedelia.
In addition to music, the night will also focus on art and food.
The show starts at 7 pm, and is free. Brooklyn Bowl is located at 61 Wythe Ave. For more information, call 718-963-3369.
