Naturally Obsessed: The Making of a Scientist

BAMcinématek presents a special screening of "Naturally Obsessed: The Making of a Scientist," a new documentary by Carole and Richard Rifkind.

This is a unique, pioneering investigation behind the scenes of a science lab, which mixes humor and heartbreak to tell an intensely dramatic story of the struggle to become a scientist.

The December 14, 7 p.m. screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and a post-screening panel exploring parallels in the creative processes in science and the arts.

Panelists include Jacques d’Amboise, dancer, choreographer, educator; Eric Booth, arts educator, actor, author; Matthew Ritchie, visual artist influenced by scientific concepts; Lawrence Shapiro, head of the lab at the Columbia University Medical Center that is featured in the film; and moderated by Andrew Zolli, Executive Director and Curator of PopTech. A reception follows.

Tickets are $11, or $7 for members. For more, call 718-636-4100.
