Theater that's gone in 60 seconds

This is theater for the ADD age.

Over two days, Brooklyn College is putting on 50 plays — each lasting just 60 seconds or fewer.

“It’s silly enough, but sometimes, believe it or not, we have one-minute dramas,” said Rose Burnett Boncek, who is directing the June 10-11 festival, “Gi60” (short for “Gone in 60 Seconds”). “People come expecting 50 sketch comedies — but they all aren’t.”

Plays have come from all over the world, including “The Dark,” by Aurora Stewart de Pena, an eerie monologue about one woman and what lives beyond the light; “Deep into October” by Dwayne Yancey, about the lure of October baseball; and Steve Ansell’s “Palintology,” which follows Ira and Irving, two elderly dinosaurs who enjoy, of course, political chit chat.
