Now this is what we call fair trade.
Donate a pint of blood at the Kelso of Brooklyn brewery in Clinton Hill on March 4 and you get a coupon for a free pint — of beer.
“One pint of blood could save three lives,” said Kelly Taylor, the Kelso brewmaster, who has organized a New York Blood Center bus on site to help with the donations. “That ain’t nothing.”
That free pint then can be redeemed at Hanson Dry in the neighborhood, at d.b.a. and Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, at the Waterfront Ale House and the Brazen Head in Downtown, at Bierkraft in Park Slope, at Dean Street in Prospect Heights, and at Moonshine in the Columbia Street Waterfront District.
“You can have a beer afterwards, but you have to keep in mind, it’s going to go right to your head,” said Taylor. “We’re encouraging you to save the coupon for later. And we would, of course, encourage you to get a pint of Kelso, but you can get a pint of whatever you want.”
“Pint for Pint Program” at Kelso of Brooklyn [529 Waverly Ave. between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue in Clinton Hill, (718) 398-2731], March 4, 4-8 pm. To RSVP, e-mail info@kelsoofbrooklyn.com or register online at www.nybloodcenter.org. For info, visit www.beerhelps.net.
