Get ready to skate

It’s time again to enjoy the fresh air experience of skating outdoors in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.

The park’s Wollman Rink, located near the Parkside and Ocean avenues entrance, opens for the season Thanksgiving Day, November 26 at 10 a.m.

Wollman Rink is a great place for winter fun all season long. Take lessons, throw a skating party, take a leisurely spin around the ice, and enjoy a snack and a hot chocolate.

Upcoming highlights include:

• Every Friday: half-price admission (does not include skate rental charge, holidays excluded).

• New York Rangers merchandise give-a-way, December 4 from 4-7 p.m.

• Skating clinic, December 5-6 at 12 p.m. (space limited). Free (with rink admission).

• Disco music skate, December 18, 7-9 p.m.While at the rink, enjoy warm food, lite bites, hot chocolate and other refreshments from the Kate’s Corner snack bar.

The rink is open the following hours:

From November 26-March 14, 2010, the rink is open Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2-6 p.m. and 7-10 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-6 p.m.

During Thanksgiving holiday hours, the rink will be open November 26 (Thanksgiving Day) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-6 p.m., and November 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Skating is weather permitting — call 718-287-6431 to confirm.

Admission is $5 for adults ages 15 and up, $3 for children (14 and under) and seniors, and a skate rental is $6.50 (tax included).
