What a glass act!

Put this in your pipe and smoke it.Using famous images from art and the every day, artist Slinger has sandblasted his way through pop culture imagery.

In his new show “Repeater,” at East Street Gallery, a space devoted to glass pipe art, Slinger borrows from such iconic images as Warhol’s Campbell Soup cans and Dali’s melting watches, placing them on Sherlock Holmesian pipes and other, um, paraphernalia.

The artist’s own message is more aligned with Warhol’s in his comment on consumerism, as he attempts to reclaim the space used by mainstream media by deconstructing traditional forms, such as the $100 bill in a shiny vase-like piece called “All About the Benjamins.”“I just want to do something different and challenge how people think about art,” said Slinger.

Plus, it looks pretty cool, in a counter-culture kind of way.

“Repeater” at Easy Street Gallery [155 Grand St. between Berry Street and Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, (718) 388-8257] from April 10-May 12, with a free reception on opening night at 7 pm. For info, visit http://easystreetbrooklyn.com.
